Story of the Founder

In 2014, while in her third year at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Wendy Anna Egyirkoom recognized the urgent need to equip, encourage, empower, and inspire children and individuals from deprived communities, including street children and the less privileged in her environment. Driven by compassion and purpose, her first outreach was to the Kumasi Children’s Home. Alongside Peter Ocloo, she gathered clothing, funds, and other essentials to support the children at the home.

This act of kindness marked the beginning of what would grow into a larger movement. Two significant donations were made in Kumasi before Wendy completed her studies. On August 24, 2016, the original name, Hope Foundation, was officially changed to Wenette Hope Foundation, a name derived from the combination of Wendy and Antoinette (Wenette). It has since been registered as Wenette Hope Foundation LBG.

The compassionate spirit behind the foundation was deeply inspired by the late Madam Rose Yakoba Coomson, grandmother of Wendy and Antoinette. Known for her selfless giving, often giving away nearly everything in her home. She instilled in them a lifelong dedication to helping others.

Later in 2016, Wenette Hope Foundation LBG took on a renewed form with the involvement of passionate friends and family members who believed in the vision and were eager to support it. Their collective efforts have since propelled the foundation’s mission to bring lasting hope and change to communities in need.
